Port San Luis Harbor Patrol says at about 9 a.m. Wednesday a sea lion was found with an evident shark bite. Harbor managers say a sea lion was attacked by a shark but at this time they do not know the location of the attack.

Thursday, July 23rd saw the beginnings of a pumping south swell — and a white shark spotted about 300 yards off Malibu. This is on the heels of many sightings at both San O and Sunset Beach in LA.

The shark came completely out of the water and turned on its back so I coudl see its white bellly and dark gray back, The shark appeared to be about 5-6 feet in length.

The Santa Barbara Channel is well-known for dense seal, sea lion, and dolphin populations, which provide excellent feeding grounds for man-eating carnivores like the Great White Shark. Northern Santa Barbara County is a notorious hot-spot for Great White Shark activity and predation.
