Coast Guard Video of Shark Attack Evacuation

A Jackson man was bitten by a shark Saturday while fishing about 65 miles southeast of New Orleans, the Coast Guard reported. The man, identified only as 56 years old, was fishing aboard a vessel named Predator near Breton Island. Coast Guard Station Venice received a radio call for medical help from the Predator around 10 a.m. and contacted Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans.

Thursday, July 23rd saw the beginnings of a pumping south swell — and a white shark spotted about 300 yards off Malibu. This is on the heels of many sightings at both San O and Sunset Beach in LA.

The body of a shark was left lying in the middle of a downtown Miami street after two men tried to sell it to several fish markets. Surveillance video caught the men dragging the five or six-foot-long animal around town.

CC, or Cut Caudal, one of our regular sharks, accidentally ran into one of the main cages on the Searcher. CC came up nearly vertical about 20 feet away from the cage and grabbed one of the hang baits, which he is known to do on a regular basis. However, on this particular day he swam right into the portside cage’s viewing window.

You’ve got to ask yourself what sort of chances you honestly expect to have against a beast of this magnitude. These apex predators are spotted frequently in the waters of Northern Santa Barbara County.
